IMIAD NICOSIA WORKSHOP 2016

“Inhabiting Nicosia: Interior Strategies for the Public Realm”.

The workshop was organized by the ITU-IMIAD Programme, hosting 48 IMIAD students (from 5 IMIAD institutions), around 17 tutors and 2 key-note guests (Dr. Suzie Attiwill, RMIT and Dr. Anita Bakshi, Rutgers Univ) and aimed to re-address Nicosia and provide ideas for public domesticity within cityscape & streetscape.

Locals, Cypriots and Nicosians who were interested in the urban culture of the city were also invited to participate: activists, professionals, designers, community representatives, academics, students, and most importantly, residents. Participants took part in all workshop activities, and acted as key elements of the various design groups, guiding and enlightening the group work on local issues and potentials. 

DIGITAL CRAFTS WORKSHOP 2015

Ahmedabad, India

This course introduced the vision, tools and techniques to create multiplicity in form making through computation (generative) design. Basics of scripting was learnt and a dynamic model was set up to allow several iterations before finalizing design as well as include logic of production. This resulted in a life-size installation on campus. 

LIGHT WEIGHT STRUCTURES WORKSHOP 2013

Vadodara, India

This workshop organized by the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA) and conducted by Prof. Gurdev Singh at School of Environmental Design and Architecture introduced the concept of light weight structure, forces and their actions and the subsequent diagrams. It explored diagramming as a method to explore, understand and resolve the structural forces, and then make a physical model to test the understanding.
